The Mayor of Madrid has responded to Vinícius's comments on racism in Spain

Real Madrid star and leader Vinícius Júnior has stated that Spain should be stripped of its right to host the 2030 World Cup due to racism.
In response, Madrid's Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida addressed these comments. He urged Vinícius to correct his mistake and apologize.
"I ask him to rectify his mistake and apologize. Being an outstanding footballer does not exempt him from making mistakes, and in this case, he has made one," Martínez-Almeida said.
He emphasized that while Spain supports Vinícius in the fight against racism, they cannot align with him when he labels nearly all of Spanish society, particularly in Madrid, as racist.
"Experiencing some unfortunate episodes does not give him the right to label almost all of Spanish society as racist and to claim that the 2030 World Cup should not be held here," the Madrid mayor added.
Martínez-Almeida also remarked that Vinícius should recognize that he is currently living in one of the best and most open cities—Madrid.
