He began his career back in 2007, making his debut in a friendly match between Barcelona B and Gramenet. His successes with Barcelona B didn't go unnoticed, and by the end of May 2008, Guardiola replaced Frank Rijkaard as the head coach of Barcelona's first team.

During his four years at Barcelona, he won three league titles and two UEFA Champions League trophies. He then moved on to Bayern Munich, where he won three league titles in three seasons but fell short in claiming the ultimate European prize. On February 1, 2016, Manchester City announced that Pep Guardiola would be their next coach.
