Nigeria national team goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has endured a heartbreaking personal tragedy.

Details: Nwabali's father passed away on November 14, 2024. Just over a month later, on December 31, 2024, his mother also passed away. This double loss has deeply affected the goalkeeper's emotional state.

Nwabali himself admitted that coping with everything has been extremely difficult:

"I'm trying to move forward and stay strong, but sometimes I feel like giving up. At one point, I even told the captain that I wanted to quit football."

It should be noted that Stanley Nwabali has played in two matches at the Africa Cup of Nations. Nigeria's next match is scheduled for Monday, January 5, at 20:00 Central European Time.

Reminder: Nigeria forward Cyriel Dessers has left the national team camp and will miss the remainder of the Africa Cup of Nations.
