Midfielder of the Moroccan national team and Queens Park Rangers (QPR), Ilias Chair, has been sentenced to one year in prison for assaulting a man, as reported by TalkSport.

According to the statement, on Friday, February 23, a court in Antwerp, where the footballer grew up and began his career, sentenced Chair to a one-year prison term with a 12-month suspension. Additionally, the player's brother received a prison sentence as well. Ilias attacked a truck driver and struck him on the head with a stone. As a result, the victim sustained a serious injury and was admitted to the hospital in critical condition.

Furthermore, the footballer has been ordered to pay £13,400 in compensation to the victim for the injuries inflicted. Ilias Chair's legal team intends to appeal the court's decision. QPR also issued an official statement, indicating that until the appeal is prepared and considered, the player will continue to represent their team.

"The legal proceedings have not yet concluded. Therefore, the club will not make any further comments at this stage," the club stated.

In the current season, Ilias Chair has been a key player for QPR. He has appeared in 31 league matches, scoring four goals and providing five assists.

It should be noted that a lawsuit has been filed against Miami Heat's Gaveed Gaywood Gaysmith, a basketball player. It has been reported that 21-year-old Alexio Pino lost his leg and sustained multiple injuries as a result of the accident caused by the player.
