A Chelsea defender might continue his career in Serie A
Roma is considering the potential acquisition of Chelsea's central defender Trevoh Chalobah in January, according to Mirror reports.
The Wolves are entering the transfer market in search of a defender due to the team's unreliable performance at the backline and the injuries to Chris Smalling and Marash Kumbulla.
It's noted that talks have already taken place between the clubs, and the "Blues" are open to allowing the player to move to Rome in January. However, it's not specified whether it would be a permanent transfer or a loan deal.
Chalobah, aged 24, emerged from Chelsea's academy and has been part of the senior squad since 2021. He has played a total of 63 matches across all competitions for Chelsea, scoring four goals. In the current season, Chalobah has been sidelined due to a hip injury.
Previously, Roma was exploring the option of signing veteran Italian footballer Leonardo Bonucci during the winter transfer window.
Roma sits in sixth place in the Serie A table. Meanwhile, Chelsea, following their recent defeat against Wolves, currently stands at the 10th spot in the Premier League.
