In the final match of the 18th round of the English Premier League, Wolverhampton hosted Chelsea.

The visitors created several dangerous moments in the first half, but the score remained level. However, early in the second half, the home team managed to score. Mario Lemina headed the ball into the net from a corner kick past the Chelsea goalkeeper.

Chelsea didn't showcase outstanding attacking play and failed to equalize. Wolverhampton seemed closer to scoring a second goal than the Londoners were to salvaging a draw. However, Chelsea had one exceptional moment when their defenders cleared the ball right off the goal line.

The hosts solidified their lead in added time of the second half. Matt Doherty was the first to react to the rebound and pierced the ball past the goalkeeper. Later, Christopher Nkunku, who came on as a substitute, marked his Premier League debut with a goal. It was the Frenchman's first match in the tournament.

Wolverhampton - Chelsea - 2:1

Lemina 51, Doherty 90+3 - Nkunku 90+6.

After this match, both teams have 22 points and will be neighbors in the league table, occupying the 10th and 11th positions. In the next round, Chelsea will host Crystal Palace, while Wolverhampton will face Brentford away. Both matches will take place on Wednesday, December 27th.
