A battle-ready squad heads to Zambia. Kaizer Chiefs name their CAF Confederation Cup squad
South African football club Kaizer Chiefs have officially announced a 23-man squad that will travel to Zambia for their opening CAF Confederation Cup match against Red Arrows.
Details: Head coach Fernando da Cruz has included both experienced campaigners and promising youngsters in the travelling party. Defender Rushwin Dortley returns as a notable boost to the squad, while young goalkeeper Takalani Mazhamba has been added to the goalkeeping ranks. In midfield, Thulani Mabaso has been given the opportunity to make his mark after being promoted to the first team. However, the coaching staff will be without several key players due to injuries: Lebohang Maboe, Sifiso Ndlovu, Hanis Mayo, Langelihle Phili and Adolf Mtsasingwa remain in the treatment room.
