Same problem again! Fernando Da Cruz names what cost Kaizer Chiefs against Stellenbosch
Kaizer Chiefs keep running into the same obstacle: turning their chances into goals.
Details: Head coach Fernando Da Cruz admitted his disappointment after Kaizer Chiefs were held to a 1-1 draw by Stellenbosch at FNB Stadium. The French coach stressed that his side created opportunities but once again lacked efficiency inside the penalty area, insisting that the only solution is to keep working.
Stellenbosch struck first shortly after the break through Sinoxolo Kwayiba, but the hosts responded in the 58th minute when Mduduzi Shabalala restored parity. Chiefs had further opportunities to complete the comeback, yet a winning goal never arrived.
Da Cruz was unable to attend the regular post-match press conference after suddenly falling ill and vomiting. He recovered and returned to media duties the following evening during the Carling Knockout last-16 draw.
Reflecting on the result, the coach said he was particularly disappointed for the supporters. At the same time, he refused to panic, pointing out that the season is still at an early stage and repeating that improved finishing can only come through work, work and more work.
It is worth noting that Kaizer Chiefs remain unbeaten after eight Betway Premiership matches. They sit fourth with 14 points after three wins and five draws, nine points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have played one game more.
