A 28-year-old record was broken in the basketball tournament at the Olympics

The 2024 Olympic Games have come to a close, with the closing ceremony held on Sunday, August 11. However, it has already been reported that a record was broken in the basketball tournament in Paris.

According to BasketNews, the basketball tournament at the 2024 Paris Olympics attracted 1,078,319 spectators. The previous record was set at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, where 1,068,032 fans attended the tournament. As a result, Paris broke a 28-year-old record. The average attendance was 20,737 spectators per match, with nearly equal numbers for men's (21,711) and women's games (19,763).

In the men's tournament, the United States claimed victory, defeating their opponents 87-98 in the final and winning their fifth consecutive Olympic gold medal. In the women's tournament, the U.S. team also emerged victorious, narrowly beating France 66-67 to secure their eighth consecutive gold.

Notably, this Olympic gold became the sixth in the career of American basketball player Diana Taurasi, making her the most decorated basketball player in Olympic history.
