60 jobs on the line after Arteta's mega-deal! Arsenal's cost-cutting move raises eyebrows
The contrast between Arsenal's boardroom decisions could hardly be more striking.
Details: Arsenal are preparing to cut up to 60 jobs following a wide-ranging review of the club's operations. The restructuring is expected to affect mainly off-field and administrative roles, while the men's and women's first-team coaching and performance departments, academy and community operations are among the areas reported to be protected. The measures are expected to reduce annual costs by approximately £5–7 million.

The timing has attracted particular attention because the announcement came shortly after Mikel Arteta agreed a new long-term contract with Arsenal until 2030. Reports on the Spaniard's remuneration differ: several British sources put his annual salary at around £20 million, while other reports value the complete package at up to £25 million per year.
At the maximum reported figure of £25 million, Arteta would earn roughly £68,500 per day. For comparison, a person earning £30,000 per year would need more than two years of work to receive the equivalent of a single day of income at that rate. The comparison has inevitably intensified discussion around Arsenal's decision to reduce staff numbers.
It is worth noting that Arsenal recorded club-record revenue of around £691 million for the 2024/25 financial year while reporting a relatively small £1.4 million loss. At the same time, operating expenses reportedly increased from £148 million to £201 million, providing important context for the club's ongoing cost review.
Reminder: Attention on the Santiago Bernabéu star. Arsenal are monitoring the situation around Real Madrid winger
