Irankunda has turned a dazzling World Cup campaign into his ticket to the big leagues.

Details: According to renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, Sporting are putting the finishing touches on the transfer of Australian winger Nestory Irankunda from Watford.

The Lisbon club will pay €15 million as a fixed fee for the 20-year-old. With bonuses included, the total package could exceed €18 million.

Sporting have also reached a full agreement with Irankunda on a long-term contract. Only some final formalities remain before the move is officially announced.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed the transfer with his trademark phrase: Here we go.

It's worth noting that Irankunda emerged as one of the young stars of the 2026 World Cup. In the match against Turkey, the winger scored Australia's opening goal and became the youngest Australian ever to score at the tournament. That goal helped his national team secure a 2-0 victory.

Reminder: Bayern didn't need him. Irankunda makes history for Australia at the World Cup.
