Atlético Madrid delivered a rare statistical feat in their La Liga Matchday 20 encounter against Alavés.
Details: In the first half, Diego Simeone’s side fired off 16 shots at goal, but not a single one found the back of the net. According to Opta, this equals the club record for most first-half shots without scoring during the entire Simeone era. The previous instance came in May 2021, in a home fixture against Osasuna.
It’s worth noting that early in the second half, Atlético finally broke the deadlock thanks to Alexander Sørloth, with Pablo Barrios providing the assist.
Reminder: Atlético are reportedly interested in PSG’s South Korean midfielder Kang-in Lee.
