Levante vs Albacete prediction and betting tips on May 16, 2025
On May 16, at the "Ciudad de Valencia" stadium, the 40th round of the Spanish Segunda will see Levante take on Albacete. For this clash, I'm offering a bet on goals, cards, and the outright winner.
Levante
The team left a mark in the 2012/2013 Europa League season, when the tournament debutants reached the round of 16, only bowing out in extra time. But not only did they never repeat that feat—they haven’t climbed higher than tenth place in La Liga since. In fact, they've been relegated to the Segunda twice. In 2016/2017, they bounced straight back, finishing first, but two years ago missed out in the qualification, and last spring managed only eighth place.
This time, Levante have once again shown their ambition to return directly to La Liga, backing it up with improved performances. However, a lackluster run-in could still derail their hopes—they haven’t won even half of their matches since late March. That said, they did claim a convincing 3-1 away victory over Elche.
Albacete
The club made its La Liga debut back in 1991, only to be relegated again in 2005—this time, seemingly for good. Since then, for nearly two decades, they haven’t risen above the Segunda and have even dropped into the third division three times, including a campaign in 2021/2022. Upon returning, Albacete immediately reached the playoffs from sixth place, but fell short there, and the following season finished a modest thirteenth.
This year, the team continues to hover in the middle of the league table. They're almost equidistant from both the relegation zone and the top six, with wins, draws, and losses all nearly evenly split. Last round, however, they did edge out Huesca, 3-2.
Match facts
- Levante have won three of their last seven matches
- On average, Levante score 1.64 goals and concede 1.03 per match
- Albacete have won twice in their last six outings
Head-to-head
Back in December, after five straight defeats, Albacete at least salvaged a draw—0-0 at home.
Levante vs Albacete prediction
The bookmakers aren’t expecting surprises from the visitors. The hosts are second in the table and need a win to keep that spot—so the smart money is on Levante with a "0" handicap (odds: 1.69).
