Genoa vs Fiorentina prediction, H2H and probable lineups – 9 November 2025
As part of matchday 11 in the Italian Serie A, Genoa and Fiorentina will lock horns. The clash will take place in Genoa on Sunday, 9 November, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 Central European Time. Here’s my take on picking the winner for this showdown.
Match preview
Genoa made a disastrous start to the Serie A season and struggled for a long time to secure their first win. Following a string of poor results, Patrick Vieira was dismissed, which immediately gave the squad a much-needed shake-up.
In their last outing against Sassuolo, the "Grifone" finally bagged three points, but they still remain in the relegation zone. Interim management was taken over by Murgita and Criscito, but midweek the club announced the appointment of Daniele De Rossi as the new head coach.
Genoa have managed to score only six goals in ten rounds—a rather modest tally. Only Parma have scored fewer, so the new coach’s top priority will be to fix the attacking woes.
Defensively, Genoa have plenty of issues since De Winter's departure to Milan. Leo Østigård has stepped up as the new leader at the back, while Frendrup and Malinovskyi are pulling the strings in midfield. However, the Ukrainian will miss the next match due to yellow card accumulation.
Fiorentina turned in a fantastic campaign last season, racking up 65 points—their best haul in recent years. The club was in the hunt for a top-5 finish almost until the end, eventually taking eighth place and clinching a spot in the Conference League.
The new campaign under Stefano Pioli has started in disastrous fashion. The "Viola" have been losing to all comers, from Inter to Lecce. The team’s form has been dire, managing to keep a clean sheet just twice in Serie A so far.
Four draws and six defeats in ten matches have shown that Pioli’s return to Italy after a brief Middle Eastern jaunt has not gone to plan. Unsurprisingly, he was dismissed midweek, with the team sensationally rooted to the bottom of the table.
There’s still plenty of time to turn things around, but the gap to the European spots is already significant. On Thursday, 6 November, the Italians suffered their first Conference League defeat, but remain among the tournament’s top eight clubs.

Prediction
Given Fiorentina’s squad depth, the visitors should enter as favorites. However, with the "Viola" in such poor form, bookmakers are struggling to pick a clear favorite. Still, losing streaks are made to be broken, so I’m backing the visitors to win with a 0 handicap.
