Can Eibar extend their historic winning streak? Albacete vs Eibar prediction – 03.10.2026
On Saturday, October 3, Albacete will host Eibar at the Carlos Belmonte in the eighth round of LaLiga Hypermotion. Kick-off is scheduled for 14:00 local time. The contrast could hardly be greater: Albacete sit bottom of the table with one point from seven matches, while Eibar are second with 18 points after six wins and one defeat. The hosts have scored only four goals and conceded 12, compared with Eibar's 15 goals scored and six allowed.
Albacete: the performances offer some hope, but the results are becoming critical
Albacete's start to the season has been extremely difficult. Alberto González's team have lost six of their first seven league games, with their only point coming in a 1-1 draw away to Granada. Their latest outing ended in a 2-0 defeat at Girona, leaving the Manchego side as the only team at the bottom of the table with just one point from a possible 21. Despite the pressure surrounding the coach, the club decided to keep González in charge, while several players publicly backed him after the Girona loss.
The scoreline in Girona did not tell the whole story. Albacete registered 20 shots and created three clear chances, more than the hosts, but once again failed to turn promising situations into goals. Mario Soberón was denied by Paulo Gazzaniga, Sergio Ortuño hit the post and Higinio Marín also went close with a header. The lack of finishing has become one of the biggest problems for a team averaging well under a goal per match.
Personnel problems have made González's job even harder. Albacete travelled to Girona without Munir El Haddadi, Samuel Obeng, Pepe Sánchez, Antonio Puertas, Capi, Víctor San Bartolomé, Jesús Vallejo, Javi Moreno and Lorenzo Aguado. Rober González and Víctor Valverde were able to return, while Higinio continues to regain rhythm after his long absence. Another problem has now appeared: Sergio Ortuño was sent off for a second yellow card in stoppage time at Montilivi and will therefore be unavailable against Eibar.
Eibar: Aranbarri's team have found a winning formula
Eibar's season began with a 3-1 defeat against Tenerife, but the reaction has been spectacular. Jokin Aranbarri's side have since beaten Valladolid, Andorra, Granada, Celta Fortuna, Eldense and Las Palmas in succession. Six consecutive victories represent a new club record in professional football and have lifted the Basque side into the automatic promotion positions.
The latest 3-2 victory over Las Palmas demonstrated why Eibar are so dangerous at the moment. Mada and Álvaro Rodríguez scored inside the opening eight minutes before Javi Martón added the third after the break. Adu Ares was a constant threat on the right, while Mada and Aleix Garrido gave the team control in midfield. Eibar did concede twice, but they continued to create chances rather than simply protecting their lead.
Aranbarri, who took charge of the first team this summer, has quickly imposed a flexible and vertical style. Eibar can attack through the wings, play through midfield or accelerate immediately after recovering possession. Their six-match winning sequence has produced 14 goals while conceding only three, showing that their current run is based on much more than narrow results.
Recent meetings also favour Eibar
There is another encouraging detail for the visitors. Eibar won both league meetings between these sides last season: 3-2 at Ipurua and 3-0 at the Carlos Belmonte. In the latter game, Jon Bautista scored a hat-trick as Eibar punished Albacete ruthlessly on the counterattack.
The form gap is difficult to ignore: Albacete vs Eibar prediction
Albacete are probably playing slightly better football than their one-point total suggests. The performance in Girona showed that González's team are still capable of creating chances, and playing at the Carlos Belmonte should give them additional energy. However, opportunities alone are not enough when a team scores only four goals in seven matches and continues to deal with serious personnel problems.
Eibar arrive in exactly the opposite situation. Confidence is extremely high, different players are contributing goals, and Aranbarri's team have shown that they can win both tight matches and more open contests. The visitors have won six straight league games, while Albacete have yet to win at all. Even allowing for the unpredictability of the Segunda División and Albacete's home advantage, the current difference in efficiency and momentum makes the away victory an attractive option.
Prediction: Eibar to win.
