Zamalek’s José Gomes Comments on Potential January Move for Ashraf Bencharki
José Gomes, head coach of Zamalek's first football team, addressed rumors regarding a potential winter transfer for Moroccan forward Achraf Bencharki, who previously played for the club. With Bencharki reportedly close to leaving Qatari side Al Rayyan in the upcoming transfer window, speculation about his return to Zamalek has intensified.
In response to a question at a press conference ahead of Zamalek’s match against Smouha, Gomes said, “I am only focused on the players we have now and the solutions available to us at the moment. We have many challenges, and the transfer window is currently closed. We will look to sign another player if possible, but it’s more important that we support the current squad.”
He further explained, “Sometimes, it’s not always necessary to sign players from outside. We’ve had financial difficulties with past players, and we need to address those issues. Signing one or two new players would be beneficial, but we must remain more organized and professional as a team."
