Youth leads the way! Chelsea play their 50th straight Premier League match without a player over 30
Before today's Matchweek 12 Premier League clash, where Chelsea are on the road against Burnley, the London side has reached a historic milestone. Once again, the Blues’ starting XI features not a single player over the age of 30.
Details: This marks Chelsea’s 50th such match in the Premier League, and according to Opta, they have become just the second club in Premier League history to play 50 consecutive games without a player over 30 in the starting line-up. Previously, only Aston Villa managed this feat, holding the record between September 2012 and January 2014 (59 matches).
The Burnley vs Chelsea showdown at Turf Moor kicks off today at 13:30 Central European Time.
At the moment, Chelsea sit third in the Premier League table, and a win over Burnley would see the Blues climb to second place.
For the record: Chelsea winger Estevao became the second-youngest player to score five goals for Brazil’s national team. Only Pelé was younger.
