Yoane Wissa joins an exclusive group of African goalscorers at the World Cup
Having scored three goals in the group stage, the Congolese striker has become the fourth African player to achieve this feat in the group stage during a single edition of the tournament.
Yoane Wissa is making his mark at the 2026 World Cup. The Congolese international distinguished himself with a goal against Portugal in the opening Group K match, before scoring a brace on 28 June against Uzbekistan on the final day of the group stage.
Thanks to this performance, the Congolese striker has joined a very select group. This exclusive group includes Papa Bouba Diop, who scored three goals for Senegal at the 2002 World Cup, as well as Ismael Saibari and Ismaïla Sarr, who also found the net three times during the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.
