As Esperance de Tunis gets ready for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which will be held in the United States from June 15 to July 13, Brazilian winger Yan Sasse has emerged as a key member of the squad.

Esperance finds itself in a challenging Group D alongside English powerhouse Chelsea, Mexican club León, and Brazilian giants Flamengo. Sasse’s journey to prominence, however, has been anything but conventional.

He struggled with América Mineiro in Brazil's Serie A in the 2021–2022 season, playing 134 minutes and making only seven appearances without scoring any goals or providing any assists. His market worth suffered greatly as a result of these difficulties, and by the summer of 2022, he had no team.

A career revival came through New Zealand's Wellington Phoenix, where he regained his form and caught the eye of Esperance. Joining the Tunisian club on a free transfer in 2023, Sasse quickly became an integral part of the squad. Over 45 matches, he contributed to 19 goals across domestic and continental competitions.

Now valued at €1 million, Sasse is seen as Esperance's main offensive weapon as they aim to make a strong impression on the global stage.
