The remarkable performances of Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen have made him a prime target for many top clubs in Europe. The "Pharmacists" remain undefeated in the current season across all competitions, and the coach himself is sought after by Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

However, former Bayer Leverkusen manager Reiner Calmund believes that Xabi Alonso should decline Liverpool's offer and wait for Carlo Ancelotti's departure to take charge of Real Madrid.

Speaking to Sport1, he stated:

"I don't think Alonso will do it [move to Liverpool]. Of course, it's a good option. Alonso won the Champions League with Liverpool and clinched the league title three times with Bayern. Undoubtedly, they are extremely appealing employers. We also have to wait and see what happens at Real and whether Ancelotti leaves earlier. If I were his agent, I would not advise him to join Liverpool as Klopp's successor. I would recommend that he stay at Leverkusen for another year or two and then, perhaps, replace Ancelotti."

At present, Bayer boasts a streak of 35 matches without defeat, and it's clear that Alonso is focused on a strong finish to the season, although this doesn't hinder him from engaging in negotiations with various teams.
