Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco is focusing on strengthening its squad with high-profile signings in preparation for its upcoming participation in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. The tournament will take place in the United States from June 15 to July 13, 2025, featuring some of the world’s top football clubs.
Wydad will have strong opposition in the group stage as they are paired with Italian powerhouse Juventus, English champions Manchester City, and UAE's Al Ain. Wydad is eager to add players to its squad in order to compete at the greatest level given the strong opponents in their group.
After Senegalese forward M'Baye Niang's contract was terminated due to his subpar performances, the club has made it a priority to find a striker with a track record of scoring goals. Wydad is also looking for new full-backs to take the place of Ayoub Boushta and Mohamed Mefid, whose performances this season have been lacking. In 11 games in all competitions, Boushta has only provided two assists, and in 15 league and cup appearances, Mefid has neither scored nor assisted.
To strengthen their attacking lineup, the team also hopes to add a winger and a center attacking midfielder.
With 24 points, Wydad Casablanca is currently ranked fourth in the Moroccan league. They trail RS Berkane, the leading team, by 12 points. Wydad has won six games, drawn six, and lost three so far this season. They have allowed 14 goals while scoring 20.
In the new "Kass Excellence" tournament, Wydad has played four matches, winning two, drawing one, and losing one. The team is working on bringing in new players to make the squad stronger. Their goal is to perform better in both local and international competitions, especially as they get ready to play in the famous FIFA Club World Cup.
