Details: The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has officially announced the nominees for the 2026 International Emmy Awards, and the documentary Baila, Vini, dedicated to Real Madrid's Brazilian winger, has been shortlisted in the Best Sports Documentary category. The film, produced by Conspiração and Netflix, is among four nominees competing for the prestigious television award.
The documentary follows Vinicius' journey from his childhood in Brazil to becoming one of football's biggest stars. It explores his achievements on the pitch, his personal life, and his fight against racism, including the discrimination he has faced during his career in Spain.
However, there is an interesting detail surrounding the nomination. Despite receiving recognition from the International Television Academy, Baila, Vini has a rather low IMDb rating of just 4.1 out of 10. The film's audience score stands in sharp contrast to its nomination for one of the most prestigious awards in international television.
The Brazilian production will compete against three other documentaries: Temps Mort, The Philipstown Wirecar Grand Prix, and Tom Daley: 1.6 Seconds. The winner will be announced at the 54th International Emmy Awards ceremony in New York on November 23, 2026.
It's worth noting that Baila, Vini was released on Netflix in May 2025. The documentary has a runtime of approximately 106 minutes.
