The son of legendary Netherlands striker Robin van Persie, 19-year-old Shaqueel van Persie, has made a major decision at the very start of his international career.
Details: According to Zone FRMF, the young Feyenoord forward has chosen to represent the Morocco national team, turning down the opportunity to play for the Oranje.

Shaqueel was fully entitled to make this choice thanks to his mother, Bouchra van Persie, who has Moroccan roots. Despite previously being called up for Dutch youth sides, the striker has decided to represent the "Atlas Lions" at senior level.
His famous father, Robin van Persie, is fully supportive of the move. The former Arsenal and Manchester United star has previously gone on record saying he would never pressure his son and would grant him total freedom in choosing his football nationality. It seems the persistence of the Moroccan football federation—and the call of his roots—have proved decisive for the young talent.
Notably, this season Shaqueel van Persie has played 7 matches for Feyenoord's senior squad, scoring 3 goals and providing 3 assists.
Reminder: The Moroccan wonderkid is moving to Ajax Amsterdam.
