One statistic from the young Premier League season will not make pleasant reading at Anfield: nobody has lost the ball more often than Ryan Gravenberch.

Details: The Liverpool midfielder has been dispossessed 7 times already this season, more than any other player in the Premier League. Given he has played only 97 minutes, that works out at a rough 6.5 dispossessions per 90 minutes, an alarming rate for the man trusted to run the champions' engine room.

Context matters, of course. Gravenberch's role demands he receive under pressure and turn between the lines, and high risk distribution has always been part of what makes him special. The Dutchman was outstanding last season, earning the league's Young Player of the Season award and topping the division for interceptions by a midfielder. Still, with Liverpool's title defense already under scrutiny and the squad reshaped by a turbulent summer, fans will hope the 24 year old tidies up quickly before the autumn run of Champions League fixtures begins.

It's worth noting that Liverpool also made headlines this week for the opposite reason, with Federico Chiesa and Wataru Endo left out of their Champions League squad.

Reminder: Major twist at Atletico! Julian Alvarez is back with the squad.
