World Cup Shock: FIFA Makes Surprise Decision as Egypt Must Remove Shirt Stars Before Belgium Match
FIFA has reportedly instructed Egypt to remove the stars from their national team jersey ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to reports, FIFA made it clear that stars displayed on national team shirts during the tournament are reserved strictly for World Cup winners only, not continental achievements.
As a result, Egypt have been asked to adjust their kit before their opening World Cup match against Belgium.
In addition to the badge change, the governing body has also requested that the gold colour used for players’ names and squad numbers be replaced with a standard design in line with tournament regulations.
The stars on Egypt’s jersey traditionally represent their record seven Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) titles, making the design a symbol of their continental dominance.
