Worked undercover for the FSB: Russian hockey player sentenced to prison in Poland
An extraordinary event has unfolded in the Polish hockey championship: a Russian hockey player has been sentenced to prison for working with the FSB (Federal Security Service of Russia).
Details: According to the Polish outlet Hokej.net, Maxim Sergeyev, a player for the team Zagłębie, was sentenced to three years in prison for espionage. He was arrested in the summer of 2023 and had been awaiting trial ever since. Investigations revealed that Sergeyev had been recruited by an FSB agent through the Telegram messaging app.
Initially, his tasks included posting political content on social media and monitoring reactions. Later, he was assigned to photograph strategic locations such as the Przemyśl train station and an arms factory in Silesia. To carry out these activities, Sergeyev rented an apartment overlooking a military equipment factory.
Sergeyev was part of a larger spy network, 14 out of 16 members of which have already been apprehended by Polish intelligence services.
Reminder: Just days ago, it was reported that a driver who struck and killed two hockey-playing brothers, the Goudreaux brothers, faces a potential sentence of up to 60 years in prison.
