Manchester City is gearing up to compete at the Club World Cup in the USA, but one of their key midfielders won’t be able to help the team on the pitch.

Details: According to The Athletic, Mateo Kovačić has undergone Achilles tendon surgery and will miss the upcoming tournament. Croatia’s head coach Zlatko Dalić stated that Kovačić will need around three months to recover.

In the Club World Cup group stage, Manchester City will face Wydad, Al Ain, and Juventus. The English side will kick off their tournament campaign on June 18.

Reminder: Manchester City’s management is ready to extend Rodri’s contract, which currently runs until the summer of 2027, for another two seasons—through the end of the 2028/29 campaign. Moreover, the Spaniard’s weekly wage could rise from £200,000 to £300,000.
