With over 100 caps, Aissa Mandi shares the journey that solidified his place in Algerian football


Aissa Mandi, the famous Algerian defender, has revealed the secret to his amazing 10-year career with the national team, a journey that has made him the most-capped player in Algeria’s history. Since making his debut in 2014 under coach Vahid Halilhodžić, Mandi has remained a key figure, collecting 103 international appearances, a record that continues to grow.
Speaking to L'Equipe, Mandi attributed his long profession to "seriousness and sacrifices", expressing extraordinary pleasure in his achievements with the country wide team. He stressed his dedication to the group's achievement, noting that "I am no longer always given new roles, however I remain completely dedicated to my responsibilities."
At the age of 31, Mandi acts as a defensive pillar and coach for young Algerian players. "Now, I am at the disposal of the young players in the team, giving them advice and sharing the experiences I have gained over the years," he said. Under coach Vladimir Petkovic, Mandi is a vital member of Algeria's defence due to his leadership and experience.
