William Saliba, part of the Arsenal travelling squad for next UCL game against Slavia
William Saliba is set to make his long-awaited return to competitive action as he joins Arsenal’s squad for their upcoming Champions League clash against Slavia Prague.
Details: According to Fabrizio Romano, the French defender has been included in the traveling party for the match, which is scheduled for November 4, 2026.
Saliba suffered a back injury during the 2026 World Cup, which has kept him out of action this season. The injury, reportedly a stress fracture sustained during a Premier League match, required extensive rehabilitation. Saliba resumed individual training on grass in early October, marking a significant step in his recovery.
Arsenal signed Ezri Konsa during the summer in anticipation of Saliba’s injury absence, providing much-needed cover in the defensive line. However, with Saliba now back in the mix, the Gunners may be able to rotate their defense more effectively as they push for a strong Champions League campaign.
Saliba was absent from the 2026–27 team photo due to a medical appointment, highlighting the seriousness of his injury. His return is a major boost for Mikel Arteta’s side as they look to strengthen their defense ahead of a crucial UCL tie.
It's worth noting that William Saliba is under contract with Arsenal until 2030, signaling the club’s long-term commitment to the defender.
