Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has been cleared to feature in Nigeria’s must-win 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe later this month, despite concerns over an injury that kept him out of Al Kholood’s last two matches.

Officials have confirmed that Ekong’s injury is “not serious enough” to rule him out of international duty. A source told SCORENigeria, “It is nothing to be worried about. He will play in the World Cup qualifiers.”

Nigeria will take on Rwanda on March 21 in Kigali before facing Zimbabwe four days later in Uyo, as they seek to strengthen their qualification campaign.

Return to Club Action

When Al Kholood and Al Khaleej play in the Saudi Pro League on Saturday at the Al-Hazem Club Stadium, Ekong is also scheduled to make his club football comeback.

His comeback gives the Super Eagles a huge boost as they try to get as many points as possible in the next games and maintain their hopes of qualifying for the World Cup.
