Fenway Sports Group (FSG), the owners of Liverpool, are in negotiations to purchase the French Ligue 2 club FC Bordeaux.
According to a report by France Bleu, Fenway Sports Group is in talks with the Girondins about a full acquisition of the club. Liverpool's sponsors are the main candidates to buy the six-time French champions, who are currently owned by Luxembourg-Spanish businessman Gerard Lopez and are experiencing challenging times.
Bordeaux is preparing for its third consecutive season in the second tier of French football. However, they face the risk of being relegated to the third division due to financial issues.
It is noted that on Tuesday, Bordeaux representatives will meet with the National Directorate of Financial Control of French Football (DNCG) to provide financial guarantees for the Ligue 2 season.
Club representatives at the meeting will be accompanied by two executives and one advisor from Fenway Sports Group. They intend to inform DNCG of their desire to purchase the club.
