Will he retire? The legendary Pepe might depart Porto

The 41-year-old defender Pepe could leave Porto as a free agent. This was reported by the football insider Fabrizio Romano.

The reason for this decision by the defender is the departure of Sergio Conceição from the position of head coach of the Dragons. Some formal steps and details still need to be clarified before a final decision is made.

The Portuguese veteran has been playing for Porto since 2019. In the just-concluded season, Pepe played 34 matches and scored 3 goals in all competitions. The Portuguese's contract with the Dragons expires on June 30.

Recall that in the previous season of the Portuguese championship, Porto finished third, trailing the vice-champion Benfica by 10 points and the champion Sporting by as many as 18. However, the Dragons won the Portuguese Cup, defeating Ruben Amorim's team in the final match.
