Will Haaland leave Man City? The decision has been made
Erling Haaland's future at Manchester City has suddenly become a major talking point.
Details: According to SPORT, Haaland's long-term Manchester City contract does not contain a relegation clause that would automatically allow the striker to leave if the club dropped out of the Premier League. The Norwegian therefore has no immediate contractual escape route tied specifically to relegation.
Haaland's current deal with Manchester City runs until the summer of 2034, something the club officially confirmed when announcing his new long-term contract in January 2025.
However, the situation could change midway through that agreement. Reports indicate that another mechanism in the contract may give Haaland an opportunity to leave around 2030 if he decides he wants a new challenge.
The potential exit price is also expected to decrease gradually as the contract moves closer to its expiry. Therefore, even if Manchester City were relegated before then, relegation itself would not automatically trigger Haaland's departure.
It is worth noting that Haaland scored in all four matches he played for Manchester City in September 2026 and was subsequently voted the club's Etihad Player of the Month.
