Why? The World Cup in Saudi Arabia could be postponed
The 2034 World Cup could make history before a single ball is kicked, with FIFA considering an unprecedented change to the tournament's schedule.
Details: According to The Athletic, the 2034 World Cup in Saudi Arabia could be moved to January and February 2035. FIFA is reportedly considering this option because of the country's extreme summer temperatures and complications surrounding the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Saudi Arabia's intense summer heat makes staging the competition in the traditional June-July window extremely difficult. FIFA must therefore explore alternative dates to ensure suitable playing conditions for footballers and supporters.
However, November and December 2034 present another obstacle. Ramadan is expected to fall during this period, complicating plans for a winter tournament. As a result, January and February 2035 have emerged as a possible alternative.
Such a decision would have significant consequences for the international football calendar. European domestic leagues and continental competitions would potentially have to adjust their schedules to accommodate the tournament.
No final decision has been officially announced by FIFA, meaning the proposed switch remains under consideration.
It is worth noting that Saudi Arabia was officially selected to host the 2034 World Cup in December 2024. The country plans to stage matches across 15 stadiums in five host cities.
