Military escalation and a direct threat to security in the Saudi capital have forced football authorities to cancel the international match at short notice.

Details: The elite-round Asian Champions League clash between Saudi Arabia's Al Nassr and Uzbekistan's Neftchi Fergana has officially been postponed indefinitely. The decision was made by football authorities on security grounds to protect the players, staff and spectators.

The match was called off following a missile strike from Yemen that sparked a massive fire in the Saudi capital area. Given the emergency situation, tournament organizers deemed it impossible to stage the game.

The Neftchi delegation, along with a group of supporters, arrived in Riyadh on a charter flight well in advance. The visiting team is currently safe and awaiting official instructions from the Asian Football Confederation.

A new date and a possible venue for the postponed clash will be announced later, following consultations with security officials and representatives of both clubs.

It is worth noting that the match was scheduled to take place at Al Nassr's home ground, Al-Awwal Park. In this season's AFC Champions League, the Saudi powerhouse, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, is battling for the continent's top honors.
