"When Marcus is in form and happy, he's incredible" – Solskjaer marvels at Rashford's resurgence at Barcelona
Former Manchester United head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted he's pleasantly surprised by Marcus Rashford's transformation at Barcelona.
Details: Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, the Norwegian manager revealed his delight at watching his former player rediscover his love for the game. He also shared that he recently sent Rashford a message to congratulate him on his excellent form.
"I haven't really kept in touch with Marcus since leaving United, but I did send him a couple of messages lately. I'm glad to see he's enjoying his football again," Solskjaer noted.
The coach under whom Rashford enjoyed the best spell of his career—scoring 55 goals and providing 36 assists in 135 appearances—admitted he never truly understood why the forward lost confidence during his later years at Manchester.
"It seemed like things were tough for him. I don't know what happened in his life, but now you can see at Barcelona he's enjoying the game again," he added.
According to Solskjaer, Rashford now exudes an energy reminiscent of Erling Haaland when he's at the top of his game.
"Maybe it's life, maybe it's burnout... but now Marcus has found his balance," he said. The coach emphasized that it's not just about tactics, but also the player's mental state: "A manager's main job is to sense when something's not right with a player."
This season, the Englishman is in sensational form, having already scored six goals and provided eight assists.
