What's going on? Chelsea have withdrawn their captain from the first team
We expected a lot with the arrival of Enzo Maresca as Chelsea head coach, but hardly anyone could have envisaged such a scenario in the Pensioners' camp.
According to talkSPORT, Chelsea's captain last season Conor Gallagher is suspended from the first team. He will train separately after the Pensioners return from their US tour.
The reason given is that the Chelsea manager does not see the midfielder in his squad, but also earlier the player himself rejected two offers from the club to extend his contract. Gallagher's current agreement runs until 2025.
On the 2nd of August should be the next negotiations of the parties to clarify the future of the 24-year-old player, and Chelsea's offer to extend the contract is still in force.
As a reminder, Gallagher himself also has an offer from Atlético Madrid, to which he has not yet given an affirmative answer.
