What was better? Ewa Swoboda ran the distance in a miner’s uniform and a dress

In mid-August, the Diamond League stage will take place in Chorzów, Poland, and the organizers are pulling out all the stops to promote the event by involving various stars—including one of Poland’s most renowned track and field athletes, Ewa Swoboda.
Details: For the European Championship silver medalist, the organizers devised an unusual challenge: to run carrying a large souvenir ticket, while dressed in a local miner’s orchestra uniform and a traditional Upper Silesian folk dress.
Ewa conquered all these challenges, but the toughest one turned out to be running in the tournament mascot costume—a blue baby elephant. In that suit, she clocked her slowest time, around 21 seconds, though none of the outfits made running easy.
Reminder: The Diamond League stage in Chorzów, known as the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial, will be the 12th leg of the season. After this, the competition moves west to Lausanne, Brussels, and Zurich. The final of the Diamond League will take place in Zurich on August 27-28.
