"What Deco did is simply awful". Ex-Athletic director outraged by Barcelona's actions in Williams transfer

The situation surrounding Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams’ potential move is heating up, and in the Basque camp, there’s growing talk about Barcelona’s questionable transfer tactics.
Details: Former Athletic director Rafa Alkorta has slammed the public statements made by representatives of the Catalan club. At the same time, he notes that inquiring whether everything will go smoothly with the transfer and if registration issues might arise is standard practice.
Quote: “What Deco did with Williams is over the line, unheard of, and in my opinion, simply awful. I’ve said this more than once. Last year there was a similar situation, and I don’t know if it’s related to them foreseeing possible registration issues.
I think it’s normal that Barcelona assures everyone that everything will go well and that they’ll pay the full amount. But it’s also right that Nico’s representatives want to make sure the player doesn’t miss a single match.
If things really are as they claim, then something fishy is happening again, just like last year. If the 1:1 rule is in effect... either we’re all just being deceived, and everything’s already signed,” Alkorta told El Larguero.
