What a story! Belgian cyclist Remco Evenepoel robbed by a postman
Belgian road cyclist Remco Evenepoel has fallen victim to a bizarre robbery, with the perpetrator being a postman, reports De Telegraaf.
The postman allegedly stole credit cards from the local post office in Anderlecht, then withdrew money from the accounts of unsuspecting clients. Among the stolen cards was Evenepoel’s, from which the thief managed to withdraw €9,000. In total, the postman is said to have stolen nearly €20,000.
Authorities discovered numerous stolen credit cards during a search of the suspect's apartment. A court decision regarding the postman’s sentence is expected on February 27, 2025.
This theft is not the only misfortune to have befallen Evenepoel recently. In December, the cyclist was involved in an accident when he collided with an open van door while on the road. The incident left him with broken ribs, a fractured scapula, a broken arm, a dislocated collarbone, and a bruised lung.
Evenepoel is still recovering from his injuries and is not expected to return to full training until April.
