Arsenal and German champions Bayer Leverkusen played a preseason friendly match in London.
This match was notable for the return of former Arsenal player Granit Xhaka to the Emirates. The Swiss player was warmly welcomed.
Arsenal displayed a message on the scoreboard that read "Welcome back" addressed to Xhaka before the match.
Xhaka played for Arsenal from 2016 to 2023. The Swiss midfielder appeared in 225 matches for the London team and scored 17 goals.
The Gunners secured a convincing 4-1 victory. The goals for Arsenal were scored by Oleksandr Zinchenko, Leandro Trossard, Kai Havertz, and Gabriel Jesus. The German champions responded only with a consolation goal from Adam Hlozek.
