"We will not betray ourselves" - Springboks comment on upcoming match

The Springboks' assistant coach has shared his thoughts ahead of the highly anticipated showdown.
Details: This Saturday will mark a historic moment as the Barbarians take to South African soil for the very first time!
Preparing for a side like the Barbarians is always a challenge, given their unpredictable playing style. Nevertheless, the Springboks are determined to stick to their trademark approach and take control of the game from the outset. This was emphasized by Springboks assistant coach, New Zealander Tony Brown.
"We treat this as a test match, and we'll approach the game accordingly. The Barbarians are a world-famous team. Everyone knows how they play. Everyone knows what they're trying to do, but it's impossible to fully prepare for it.
But I promise you, we've studied them closely and we'll be as ready as we possibly can be," Brown said at yesterday's press conference.
Tony Brown joined the squad at the start of 2024, and since then, the traditional power and set-piece physicality of the South Africans has been superbly complemented by their attacking flair.
"This is definitely a different kind of challenge to what we usually face. Over the years, they've beaten many great teams. The stakes for this match are massive. It's exactly the sort of contest we want for what we see as our first game of the year. We will play our game. That's my promise!" Brown added.
The historic clash between the Springboks and Barbarians will take place on June 28 at DHL Stadium in Cape Town. Tickets for the match start at 250 rand.
Reminder: The South African Bulls suffered their third defeat in a United Rugby Championship final in the 2024/25 season.
