The head coach of the Italian national team, Luciano Spalletti, commented on the situation surrounding the controversial penalty, stating that Italy deserved a direct qualification for Euro 2024, according ANSA.

"We haven't stolen anything, but realistically earned the qualification for the Euro. Using this incident against us, without considering our team's performance, is wrong. The match was difficult due to pressure.

The incident may be controversial, but certainly not as straightforward as many want to say. I am disappointed," he said.

It is reasonable to recall that the Ukraine and Italy national teams played for direct qualification for the European Championship. With a score of 0-0, in injury time, Mykola Mudryk was allegedly fouled in the opponent's penalty area by Bryan Cristante, but the referee did not award a penalty.

Ukraine's leader, Oleksandr Zinchenko, spoke to journalists after the Euro 2024 qualifying match against Italy, which ended in a 0-0 draw. In particular, the Ukrainian expressed his opinion on the controversial episode with the unawarded penalty against the Italian national team.

He stated that he did not see a replay of the penalty on Mudryk. However, the result is already set, so Zinchenko does not intend to comment on the referees' decision. In the dressing room, the players were talking about something, but for the player, it is already in the past.
