"We categorically disagree" - Lens issues sharp statement over forced rescheduling of PSG clash
Lens broke their silence with an official statement, openly protesting Ligue 1's decision to reschedule their home match against Paris Saint-Germain.
Details: Despite Lens issuing a categorical refusal to PSG's request, the Ligue 1 Board of Directors voted unanimously to move the match.
"Expressing complete disagreement with this decision, Lens nevertheless accepts it responsibly," the club's communiqué emphasized.
The statement strongly asserts that the club views the LFP's actions as unfair to the sporting integrity of the competition. At present, Lens and PSG are direct rivals in the title race, and rescheduling the fixture to give Paris additional rest ahead of their Champions League tie with Liverpool hands the leaders an unjustified advantage. Lens' management made it clear their position was simply ignored in favor of the capital club's interests on the European stage.
The statement also underlines that this intervention in the fixture list only strengthens the team's motivation to prove themselves on the pitch.
"We reaffirm our determination to pursue our sporting objectives, regardless of external circumstances," the statement concluded.
It should be noted that PSG have already had a Ligue 1 match rescheduled earlier this season—their clash with Nantes, now set for April 22 at 19:00 Central European Time.
Reminder: Arsenal is considering a transfer for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from PSG.
