Wayne Rooney names the worst World Cup in history

Wayne Rooney enjoyed a distinguished career and represented England at multiple World Cups. However, there is one tournament he considers the worst.

Details: Speaking on The Overlap podcast, the former England striker заявил that there has never been a worse World Cup than the one held in South Africa in 2010.

Quote: “There has never been a worse World Cup than the one in South Africa in 2010. That tournament never felt like a real World Cup,” Rooney said.

At that tournament, England were eliminated in the Round of 16 by Germany. The match ended 4–1 in favor of the Bundesteam.

At the 2026 World Cup, England have been drawn into a group with Croatia, Ghana, and Panama. Their opening match at the tournament will take place on June 17.

Reminder: FIFA has signed a historic agreement with video hosting giant YouTube to broadcast matches from the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
