World Cup on YouTube? FIFA inks major deal with the video platform
FIFA has struck a historic agreement with video hosting giant YouTube to broadcast matches of the upcoming 2026 World Cup. This partnership promises to make the tournament the most accessible in football's digital era.
Details: Under the terms of the deal, media partners worldwide will be able to stream the first 10 minutes of every World Cup match live for free on their YouTube channels. Moreover, there is real potential that some tournament matches will be shown in full on the platform.
In addition to live broadcasts, FIFA will open access to its massive digital archive. Fans will be able to enjoy exclusive content, including legendary moments from past World Cups in high quality, much of which has never before been available to the wider public.
This move is aimed at attracting a younger audience and expanding the tournament's reach, which will take place across the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
It's worth noting that the World Cup itself kicks off very soon, on June 11.
Reminder: FIFA has commented for the first time on Iran's participation in the World Cup.
