Southgate's intuition. Watkins' goal in stoppage time put England through to the Euro 2024 final

The national teams of England and the Netherlands met in the semi-finals of Euro 2024.

The teams had an exciting first half, creating numerous dangerous chances and playing with almost no midfield presence.

The "Oranje" took the lead early in the match thanks to a spectacular goal by Simons. However, just 10 minutes later, the referee awarded a penalty to England.

During one of the plays, Dumfries fouled Kane in a challenge. The referee deemed it a penalty. Kane confidently converted the penalty, equalizing the score.

Foden had a great chance, but his shot hit the post. The teams went into halftime with the score tied.

The second half started at a more measured pace. In the 65th minute, van Dijk had an excellent chance, but Pickford made a spectacular save to deny his shot.

In the 79th minute, Saka crossed the ball into the goal after a pass from Walker, but the goal was disallowed due to offside.

At the very end of the match, when it looked like it was going to extra-time, Watkins, who had only come on as a substitute in place of Kane, broke through the Dutch goal and put England through to the final! He was assisted by Palmer, who also came on as a substitute.

In the Euro 2024 final, today's winner will play against Spain. The match will take place on July 14 in Berlin, at the Olympiastadion.
