Walter Mazzanti: Boca’s Interest, his Next Step, and The Pain of Huracán’s Lost Final
Walter Mazzanti, one of the most sought-after names in the Argentine transfer market, addressed the swirling speculation about his future during an interview on DSports Radio. The Huracán forward, admired for his explosiveness on the wing, opened up about Boca Juniors’ reported interest, his contract situation, and his disappointment after losing the final against Platense.
“There was no promise of a transfer, but we’ve talked about it. They want what’s best for the club, and so do I,” Mazzanti said. “I haven’t spoken to my agent yet, but I know Huracán is in talks with Boca. That’s all I know for now.”
The 27-year-old admitted that the decision to leave would be emotionally complicated: “It’s not easy. Once there’s a formal offer, I’ll sit down with my agent and decide.” He added, “It’s flattering that a club like Boca wants me. Playing there—or abroad—would be a great challenge.”
Huracán recently missed the chance to lift a new trophy after falling to Platense in the decisive Torneo Apertura final, a loss that Mazzanti still laments. “It would’ve been perfect to leave with a title, but I gave the club everything I had,” he said.
For now, the forward remains under contract and is expected to rejoin training as scheduled. Huracán is still alive in the Copa Sudamericana, but his name continues to attract interest. Offers from Brazil, the U.S., and even Spain’s LaLiga could soon shape the next chapter in his career.
