WAFCON 2026: reassuring news for Cameroon regarding Marie Gisele Divine Ngah

Having been forced off through injury against Ghana on Matchday 2 of Group D, the Indomitable Lionesses striker is believed to have suffered only a minor sprain.

Panic had gripped Cameroonian supporters during the Indomitable Lionesses’ 1–0 victory over the Black Queens on Matchday 2 of the group stage of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which is taking place in Morocco. Marie Gisele Divine Ngah had been forced to come off in the 70th minute following a collision.

The Cameroonian striker burst into tears after leaving the pitch, which caused further concern amongst Cameroonians. However, it appears to be more of a scare than anything serious. Medical examinations reportedly revealed that Marie Gisele Divine Ngah has suffered a slight ankle sprain.

This comes as a relief to Cameroonian supporters, who hope to see their goalscorer back in action as early as the next match. However, the 23-year-old striker has not yet resumed training as a precautionary measure taken by the Indomitable Lionesses’ coaching staff.

The Cameroonian striker could nevertheless feature in the third and final day of Group D against Cape Verde on Thursday 6 August. Marie Gisele Divine Ngah has scored three goals in two matches at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
