Vinicius is no longer untouchable! Real Madrid newcomer threatens Brazilian star's place in the team
A major battle for a starting position is developing at Real Madrid! Vinicius Junior, once considered an automatic choice on the left wing, is facing growing pressure from summer signing Yan Diomande. The young Ivorian's impressive performances have reportedly changed the situation inside the Spanish giants.
Details: According to journalist Mario Cortegana, Diomande's emergence on the left flank has created serious competition for Vinicius. The Brazilian is no longer guaranteed an undisputed starting role, with the newcomer increasingly demonstrating that he can provide a dangerous attacking alternative for Jose Mourinho.
Diomande arrived from RB Leipzig during the summer transfer window and quickly attracted attention with his pace, dribbling and attacking movement. Although capable of playing on either wing, the 19-year-old has looked particularly dangerous on the left, Vinicius' preferred position.
The situation has become even more complicated following Vinicius' four-match La Liga suspension after his red card against Villarreal. His absence has given Diomande valuable opportunities to demonstrate his quality and compete for a regular starting place.
Meanwhile, Vinicius and his entourage reportedly recognise that the Brazilian has not been performing at his usual level. They remain self-critical and believe additional work can help him regain his best form. Mourinho now faces an intriguing selection dilemma, with no official decision made about who will permanently occupy the left wing.
Reminder: Real Madrid fans deliver their verdict on Vinicius after another impressive performance from Diomande.
